about

Nyhavna is a large industrial area between the centre of Trondheim, Nidelva River and the seafront. It’s an amazing area packed with layers and artefacts of the history of Trondheim. Our proposal builds on that special character while also better connecting the area to the city centre and to the water, creating a vibrant and liveable part of future Trondheim. Collaboration with MAD Architects (NO) and BOGL Landscape architects (DK)

The aim of the commission was to develop a plan for how the area of Nyhavna could be transformed into an integrated part of Trondheim centre. Our team worked on how to create a neighbourhood which respected and built upon the existing character of Nyhavna while also making a new & attractive part of the city. Our focus was in creating a stronger connection to the waterfront throughout the site and developing a rich and diverse landscape strategy. At the heart of the project is a new public space based in, around, and on the existing concrete structures of DORA I & II. These megalithic artefacts from WWII become the anchor at the centre of our proposal and the kickstart for the future development of Nyhavna.
